THE "BIBLIOTECA MALATESTIANA"

Cesena is a beautiful city located in the heart of Romagna on the ancient Via Emilia and washed by the waters of the river Savio.
Its historic centre includes numerous churches and palaces of considerable artistic and cultural interest and is surrounded by well-preserved walls. The Malatesta fortress, with its gates and towers, dominates the whole city.
Cesena, also defined “the city of the three Popes”. It hosts the Malatestiana library, dating back to the fifteenth century, the first civic library in Europe. It is included in the UNESCO Memory of the World Porgramme Register and represents a unique place, the only one in the world to have conserved its original structure.
